On the Same Page with HGTV Magazine

This is a first! I loved this mid-century modern desk the moment I spotted it for a client’s den. So when I picked up my mail last week, I was absolutely tickled to find the same desk (and chair…different finish and fabric) on the cover of HGTV Magazine! Here’s the latest copy of the magazine.

And here it is inside my client’s redesigned space.

Looking good in Raleigh, NC!

Ok, so maybe I’m tooting my own horn just a bit, but I prefer this wall color to the one on the cover of the magazine. I love those deep blues with those warm acorn hues from mid-century designs. Especially when you through in some brass. I actually picked out a brass desk lamp very similar to the one on the magazine, but the owner was concerned it might be too tall. I gladly took it off his hands. It’s now on my desk!

Here’s how that wall looked before there was blue or a wall of reclaimed wood shelves. Lots and lots of potential!

Before there were reclaimed wood shelves and new paint.

The room was used on occasion, but it lacked a real function. The owner really needed a place to plop or catch up on work at the end of the day, and this room wasn’t providing that for him. Take a look.

Now it’s a den and office space for the homeowner. I wish I had more updated picture of the whole room, but you can still see the major changes to the room.

This photo was taken right before the desk, chair, rug and new ceiling fan arrived.

Now the room speaks to my client. He says he’s in there every night and really enjoys his new office/den. And that is the best part of my job. I love helping people make the most out of their space. Especially when those spaces seem lost. Nothing better that turning a neglected room into one that used and loved.
